16 Weeks...and a New Sofa

Whose Belly is that anyway? Oh yeah, it's mine. An extra big thank you to Chandra who sent me some maternity hand-me-downs. Just in time as most of my shirts are getting a little too short to be appropriate for most occasions. And the best part about 16 weeks? I think I am FINALLY done being sick. It is so nice to have a normal appetite again!

Barry and Io enjoy our new 6-piece modular sectional sofa delivered today. It is so versatile. We tried several configurations before we came up with this one. The coffee table has gone downstairs which means we now need to eat at the dining table like civilized people. Besides, I don't want to raise a kid eating in front of the TV...like we tend to do...more than we should!

15 weeks and still queezy!

Although I DO feel remarkably better than I did, I still get struck with a yack attack every other day or so, usually in the evening, but even as I write this Sunday morning, I feel like I could blow at any minute. Arggghhh! Luckily, my energy is great. I am in the pool 3 times a week and yesterday, we went snowshoeing with Tammy and Paige around Snoqualmie pass. We all enjoyed the fresh air as Tacoma was socked in the fog all last week. The new job is going well. My head was spinning by Friday with the amounts of new information I'm learning, but so far I really enjoy it.

Goodbye 1st trimester!

And good riddance, I should say. Sunday I woke up and it was like a switch flipped: I slept through the night without needing to eat every 3 hours, nausea almost completely gone, and a welcome return of energy. I also started my new job today as a home health nurse. There is a lot to learn but the company has an excellent training and orientation program. I was ready for a change and I remain cautiously optimistic about my choice. It's definitely a plus leaving for work and coming home at the same time as Barry!

Gift Registry

We are registered mainly at Target, but also Babies-R-Us. Some of the bigger ticket items we registered for (ie. Stroller, Crib) are from Babies-R-Us as they do have a bit more variety. These registries are definitely a work in progress and we are very open to suggestions!

It's a girl...most likely!

We had our first ultrasound today. What an amazing thing that was! Before the ultrasoud, the midwife used the doppler to hear the fetal heart tones and I immediately lost it...could not keep the tears from welling up in my eyes. It was like, "Ah ha! There IS a reason for feeling as icky as I have." The sonographer is very experienced and says it is more than likely a girl, but we won't have that confirmed until the 20 wk ultrasound. Baby looks to have all her parts (and no extras!) and her measurements are all within normal limits. She was really movin' around in there, posing very nice for all her pictures. Wow. It's the real deal!

Swimming

Barry and I hoped to make it to Rainier today, but the idea of spending 4 hours in the car today after the long drive from Salt Lake was too much. This afternoon I went for a really nice swim. I couldn't believe how great it felt. My right rotator cuff that had given me grief since September...especially with swimming...did not hurt one bit! Freestyle and Breast stroke felt completely free from any kind of impingement. I was surprised because there were a couple of times snowboarding last week where I really felt it tweak. I guess I have found my exercise of choice through this pregnancy. Lovin' what those hormones do to the joints!

What a difference two weeks makes!

I have been terrible at keeping the blog up to date over the holidays! We had a wonderful time in Salt Lake City. I actually felt good enough to snowboard and/or ski for 3 full days of our visit. Actually, the only day I felt really crappy was Christmas day. Today I felt pretty worn out after 2 long days in the car coming back to Tacoma. Hopefully a day of rest today will allow for a low angle ski tour around Paradise, Mount Rainier, tomorrow. I would upload some pics from Christmas, but I didn't take any! If I can get Cory to email me some that she took, I will get some on the blog. This picture is from today. I think I am finally starting to look preggers! Io looks a little concerned. Thank god for the trend of low-rider jeans. I am hoping to put off maternity clothing for as long as humanly possible!
